I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with something similar.
I have Lyme, Bartonella, and Babesia. One thing I've noticed over the years is that my symptoms get significantly worse between ovulation and the start of my period. Once my period starts, I usually get some relief.
My worst symptoms are air hunger, throat and chest tightness, weakness, fatigue, dizziness, headaches, internal vibrations, and just feeling extremely inflamed overall.
I have a sizable uterine fibroid. I never really thought much about it because my OB-GYN always assured me it wasn't contributing to my health issues. However, she recently mentioned that a fibroid of this size can contribute to estrogen production, which got me wondering if there's a connection with histamine production and overall inflammatory response.
I've been reading about how estrogen can increase histamine and mast cell activity, and how histamine can also drive more estrogen activity. I've also read that many women with Lyme experience symptom flares right before their period because of increased prostaglandins and inflammatory cytokines like IL-6. In women with estrogen-dominant conditions, that inflammation can be even higher.
Am I crazy for wondering if my fibroid could be adding fuel to the fire??
I have been on herbals and several supplements and medications for 6 months (listed below) and have noticed little to no improvement. Could this be why?
Herbals:
then increases histamine, inflammation, and ultimately makes my Lyme/co-infection symptoms worse during the second half of my cycle.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do your Lyme, Bartonella, or Babesia symptoms get noticeably worse between ovulation and your period?
If you have fibroids, endometriosis, estrogen dominance, or MCAS/histamine issues, did addressing those things help reduce your Lyme symptoms?
I'm curious if anyone has gone down this rabbit hole and found answers because the pattern is so consistent for me every month that it feels like there has to be some connection.
