Recently had a blood test done due to lower back, hip, groin, thigh, knee and calf pain, swelling and tightness. Now In 2022 I was rearended and diagnosed with radiculopathy which changed to neuropathy in 2024. Also cervical spine issues from 2013. Alot of the same symptoms up and down my back since then.
Last week started getting some pain shooting from my lower back into my hip on the left side, usually its the right and part of my foot is numb on that side. Went into my groin and spread throughout the week. Couldn't bend my knee and any movement hurt. Went to ortho and he gave me 3 meds which has calmed it down mostly. Ive had these symptoms on and off in my lower back since 2022 and in my cervical spine since 2013.
Also went to primary and he did blood work and he says Lyme positive. But when I looked into the results online it says could be a false positive given my body was already fighting inflammation and that the tests have a high rate of false positives.
He has prescribed 3 antibiotics and I'm nervous about taking them mixed with what I'm already taking which has its own set of side effects I'm not enjoying.
Now I did have a tick on me for a few hours back in 2023. Caught the little guy on the back of my right knee same day he latched on. Should have kept it and got it tested but was in the shower and wanted it off.
Should I consider digging deeper into this before just taking all the medicines? Is there a chance its a false positive? I asked my Dr if he thought my issue of the past week was Lyme or lower back related he said we will see what happens which doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
The testing was done at Quest diagnostics in NJ, I'm in NY. I have to check again but I know the IGG said 10 positive and IGM was 1. C protein reactive was high 20s I think 29.
Thanks for your time
