I am a 34 year old male who began having problems in March 2014. I woke up one morning and was feeling dizzy, having nausea, and headaches. I went to my PCP and he ordered a CAT scan of my brain which was clean. Blood work was ordered and all tests came back normal. The symptoms did not stop and seemed to progress. It progressed into tingling and numbness in hands, feet, face, and ears.

In May 2014, PCP ordered another round of tests and determined that I tested positive for Lyme and referred to a infectious disease specialist and placed on Doxycycline. I was also having back and issues and was referred for an x-ray of my lower back where they discovered I had a compression fracture of my T-11 vertabre. I went to the infectious disease doctor at The University of Kansas Medical Center who stated that he didn't feel that I had Lyme because I hadn't been recently bit (had been over a year) and I only 2 IGM and I of the IGG antibodies. I guess you need 4/10 to be diagnosed. He advised that I could stop taking Doxy. I had taken about 15 days worth which the doctor said he would have only given me 2 weeks anyways.

I was referred to a neurologist in June 2014 due to the tingling and numbness in my extremities. He ordered tests on my SED rate, CRP, ANA, and RA and all came back clean. I passed all of the strength tests given by the doctor. He checked me for carpal tunnel but I had a negative Phalen's sign and a negative Tinel's. I began having pain in other areas throughout my body (scrotum, rectum, digestive issues, hair loss). I imagine that this is caused by stress and anxiety associated with not knowing what is wrong with me. In July 2014, I went back to my PCP complaining of neck and back pain and an MRI was ordered by PCP for my brain, neck and spine to rule out MS. All were normal except he did say that I had reverse normal curvature of the neck.

In August 2014, I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy to deal with some of the other issues that I was having. Both of those came back normal. The reason that I am here is about a week ago after walking a couple of miles after work I was getting ready for bed and was unable to calm myself down. After I was able to go to sleep, I woke up in the middle of the night with cramps in both legs. I haven't had a cramp for quite some time and never in both legs. The following night I didn't have any cramps. I have been drinking plenty of water and eating bananas and staying hydrated. The next two nights I was awoken with cramps in both legs. The second night I called the Ask A Nurse and they said that I should go to the ER. Went to ER and was checked out and the BMP came back all normal. Was prescribed Diazapam. No cramps since taking this. Today I decided not to take it and I was getting a cramp before bed. Another thing that I has me worried is that I noticed a dent on the side of my left ankle that hadn't been there before. My ankle does feel like I sprained it but there is no swelling. Both of my legs feel that they have pulled calf and hamstring muscles. I have not noticed any muscle weakness.

I apologize for the length of this post. I just wanted to be as thorough as possible in case anyone had any input. I did read the stickies at the top of the page. It doesn't sound like ALS but I wanted to know if anyone has heard of anything like this. My wife thinks it's all in my head and that it is mostly anxiety. Thank you and God bless.

I'm regarded as pretty patient here I believe.

You KNOW this sounds nothing like ALS, you even admit that!

This is a forum for people with a terminal illness called ALS, that is ONLY purpose of this site. Why you would think they have the time or energy for your post is totally beyond me. I'm glad I just stopped here for a minute whilst on a break, and can let the people who have this disease just pass over this thread as they have so little energy.

Please I hope no one else answers and you move on to a health anxiety forum, or better back to your doctors. Best of luck, nothing here for you.

THESE ARE NOT SIGNS OF ALS:

- dizzy, nausea, headaches
- tingling, numbness in hands, feet, face, and ears.
- compression fracture
- passed all strength tests
- pain in scrotum, rectum
- digestive issues, hair loss
- neck and back
- unable to calm down
- cramps in both legs
- dent on the side of my left ankle
- feels like I sprained
- pulled calf and hamstring muscles

LIMP MUSCLES ARE THE PRIME SIGN OF ALS:
- I have not noticed any muscle weakness.

- It doesn't sound like ALS >>> YOU’RE RIGHT.
- if anyone has heard of anything like this >>> ONLY IN ANXIETY.
- My wife thinks it's mostly anxiety >>> HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE.
