Some people don't know or forget that dogs are also affected by Lyme, sadly yes, they can get infected with it, often having a taxing effect on their health.

dog in Fall River has come down with Lyme disease — the first diagnosis in a dog this season at the Fall River Animal hospital.

Veterinarian Dr. Sarah Bowers says this is the time of year dogs are most at risk. Even if they get infected, she says, they may never show any worrisome symptoms.

I didn't know this, that dogs were also susceptible to Lyme. It's good for me to know that though, as a dog owner myself. I mentioned in another thread that we don't seem to have as many ticks here as some other states in the US, but that doesn't mean I can afford to be complacent. Awareness is so important!
