I feel like a lot of people I know are really into essential oils right now - I'm wondering if anyone has tried any essential oils for preventing ticks (or mosquitoes or anything else, for that matter).

Do you know of any oils/blends that might be useful for keeping bugs at bay?

I really can't say if essentials oils keep ticks away, but it's certainly worth trying.

I would imagine that would be prohibitively expensive to keep it applied to all areas of your skin.

Avon makes a product called ´Skin so soft´ which is just a moisturizing lotion, but it is so effective at keeping bugs off you that it is actually referenced in many Army manuals and is sold en masse on army bases. And on the plus side, it is very cheap.
