Hi guys! I found this article the other day, it seems they have found a new Lyme disease bacteria.

Scientists have discovered a new species of bacteria that can cause Lyme disease.

This one, named Borrelia mayonii, is closely related to the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria already known to cause Lyme disease, the team at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found.

This newly discovered bacteria seems to be only found in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Not all is bad though:

Current tests will pick up both infections, and the same antibiotics can treat both types, the CDC said.

Black legged ticks seem to be the only ones that transmit this bacteria. If you want to read the entire article, then google ''Borrelia Mayoni NBC news''. I'd post the link here, but I am not sure if that is ok.
