    It may also be a case of the agency not wanting to pay what it would cost to recognize and treat the disease. This kind of thing happens all to often in nationalized medicine and in many cases as well as nations it takes intervention of courts to force the hand of reluctant agencies.

    US residents can get income based healthcare now, but whether it will cover the treatment or not is another matter. I don't think people can just come here and get on these plans though unfortunately. It's sad that people have to come to the US and face financial ruin to get help with Lyme...

    I have most of the symptoms but they are caused by other conditions. I don't have Lyme disease, but because of the state of my health I may not catch it in time if I were to get it. The rash is the only thing that would give it away if I were to be infected, but not everyone develops it.

    Lyme disease tips may be taught in schools

    I would love to see more of this type of thing. Education is a nessacary step for prevention as well as finding treatment. Schools should recognize and educate people about Lyme disease. It would be nice to see something developed for national a curriculum on the matter.

    It is tough across the board to get diagnosed and treated. Even in places that recognize it as a chronic condition. Getting treatment is just the start of the battle to. People and even doctors face problems, sometimes legal ones, just for continuing treatment. Changes need to be made.

    I never new it was the fastest growing disease in the USA. I guess I'll have to read the article and check it's sources before I take that at face value. It's possible anyway. I didn't know there was an awareness month for it either to be honest. So many diseases and causes have taken up...

    Lyme disease in dogs

    I'm not sure on that one. It could mean that only 5 to 10% have symptoms that are observable by humans. Much more could actually have the disease. At least that is what I thought on my first read of the post, but I could be wrong.
