Yes, and I think sometimes we just want answers! It's hard getting a diagnosis of any disease, but at least when you know what's happening, it's much easier to work on a treatment plan!

@pwarbi I think you're right - ultimately what we need is awareness and an understanding that this is a real issue - we live in such a well traveled world that even if ticks carrying the bacteria aren't necessarily in a person's local area, it's not to say that they haven't traveled to somewhere...
This is becoming pretty big news in Australia - Lyme isn't recognized there, and there are further pushes for a Senate government enquiry.

Indeed - I think it's hard when a child almost comes into that caretaker mode, when a parent requires that level of care. A big role reversal. Though, Bella has mentioned that her and her brother Anwar also have been diagnosed with Lyme now too.
Read this article online about Bella Hadid speaking about her mom's battle with Lyme. The family are great advocates for raising awareness of Lyme.

@pwarbi I hear you - it's something that I think would require pretty extensive research before it could be applied to humans. I'm appreciative for everyone's responses - both about the testing from animals to humans and the application, to thinking about the way things apply to the wider animal...
Yes, it definitely seems to be a thing with Lyme - I know with my niece there was a lot of running around in circles, getting second, third and fourth opinions, getting frustrated - it was tough. Like you said the interplay of Lyme symptoms with other illnesses can make it trickier. I hadn't...
Absolutely - like any illness or disease, if someone fakes it then it sure makes it more difficult for those with legitimate cases. I think then to some people it's like the story of the boy that cried wolf - it's harder for the real cases to be believed when people do fake illnesses.
Thanks for the comment - I'm glad that we got the input of someone in the UK to get a bit of an understanding on the NHS and whether or not it would be plausible for them to not recognize Lyme!
That's a very good point - I don't have that much of a scientific brain so I just took the article I read on face value that it would be helping. Never thought about the fact it may make species extinct in a generation or things like that.
